Basic skills:
A necessary set of foundational skills required by a developer to function. These skills include everything from Reading Texts, Document Usage, Numeracy, Writing, Oral Communication, Working with Others, Continuous Learning and Computer Appreciation. These skills are necessary for documentation (producing business requirement documents (BRD). BRDs are the foundation of application development.
Essential Skills:
These skills refer to analysis/design and programming/coding. Other essential skills include: Thinking - problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, job task planning, organizing, significant use of memory and finding information. These are the skills developers need for function as programmers in addition to the basic ones.
